
Abigail Rebekah is a professional dancer and choreographer currently based in New York City. She has her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance from the University of Utah School of Dance. She graduated with recognition of Undergraduate Research Scholar for her thesis, Movement for Actors: Practice, Collaboration, and Performance.
Abigail has a passion for performing and sharing joy through athletic and engaging dance movement. She is passionate about musical theatre based movement combining modern and contemporary dance fundamentals, as well as musical theatre jazz dance. Abigail comes from training focussed in classical ballet techniques (Vagonova & ABT), neo-classical jazz, modern dance, improvisation, and commercial jazz all accumulating to specialties in theater performance. These skills have helped her establish various positions within new, and very exciting, collaborative processes with Troy Community Theatre, Festival Dance & Performing Arts Academy, Union County Cultural Coalition, The Elgin Opera House, Open Door Productions, University of Utah Undergraduate Research Program, and the University of Utah School of Dance.
Choreographically, Abigail works in a realm of physical and dance theater, creating movement-based story-telling using concepts of athleticism and text. Her most recent choreography and direction has been for the musicals The Music Man, and Once Upon a Mattress, a screen dance classic surrealist simplicity, Newsies The Musical , a newly devised work, Grey Area in collaboration with the University of Utah Undergraduate Research Program, a new play, Ronald & Edith, and All Together Now with Eastern Oregon University. Her most recent performances have been as Gwendolyn in The Importance of Being Earnest, Belle in A Christmas Carol , Nancy Love in a new work Wear Her Sting with the University of Utah Theatre Department, and a company dancer with the University of Utah School of Dance Performing Dance Company.
The performing arts, in particular Musical Theater, bring an overwhelming joy to her life, and she aims to never live without them. They have brought her the opportunity to share stories and messages with audience members that can influence lives in beautiful ways. Abigail's heart for movement, teaching, and telling a story bring her a love her community and those brought to her life through theatre.
